Arrival in Tangier. Check-in at the hotel. In the afternoon, panoramic visit of the city.
Few cities are as evocative as Tangier. Its name has carried mythical resonance since antiquity. Painters such as Matisse, Delacroix, and Francis Bacon; writers like Tennessee Williams, Samuel Beckett, Truman Capote, and Paul Bowles; millionaires such as Barbara Hutton and Malcolm Forbes; and musicians like Igor Stravinsky—all fell in love with this city and helped make it famous worldwide. Return to the hotel, dinner, and overnight stay.
Breakfast and departure to Tetouan, a Hispano-Moorish city known as “the White City.” Its architecture recalls many Andalusian towns. It was rebuilt at the end of the 15th century by Muslim and Jewish exiles from Spain after the fall of Granada, under the leadership of Sidi Al Mandari. Its medina, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of Morocco’s best preserved. Continue to Asilah, a coastal town with a history dating back to the Phoenicians and Romans, later a Portuguese stronghold in the 15th century. Its whitewashed walls and calm charm make it one of Morocco’s most picturesque towns. Panoramic tour and return to Tangier. Overnight stay.
Breakfast and excursion to Chefchaouen, the “Blue City.” Founded during the Reconquista of Granada by Moulay Ali Ben Rachid, Chefchaouen served as a refuge for Andalusian Muslims and Jews. Its name, meaning “look at the horns,” refers to the two mountain peaks that rise above it. The city’s Andalusian influence is visible in its whitewashed walls, blue-painted doors and windows, and sloping cobbled streets. Visit the medina and the central Uta El Hamman Square. Return to Tangier. Overnight stay.
Breakfast at the hotel and transfer to Tangier airport.
